Our Group was created from the marriage of two of Europe’s major banking traditions: the first French bank, Bank Nationale de Paris (BNP), and investment bank, Paribas. BNP’s origins date back to 1848, while Paribas was founded in 1872. So, although we were created fairly recently in 2000, we’re backed by two centuries of banking expertise.
We take great pride in our European heritage and continue to foster the spirit of openness and collaboration from which we’ve grown. But what really makes us who we are, is the collection of shared values we’ve lived by from the beginning.
Swiftly assessing new situations and developments, Rapidly identifying opportunities and risks, Ensuring effective decision-making and action
Embracing and encouraging initiative and new ideas, Recognising contributions
Serving our customers, Striving for collective accomplishment, Displaying exemplary conduct
Rising to challenges, Aspiring to leadership, Winning as one team through collaboration
We’re future-focused, always reinventing the ways we work to support our customers, our people and the world we live in. As a Group, we’ll never stop striving to be the best we can be, so we’re always delighted to receive recognition from our peers, as it lets us know we’re on the right track.

We’re renowned for our relationship with tennis, having passionately supported the sport worldwide since 1973. Today, we’re proud to be an official sponsor of British Tennis through the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and an ongoing partnership with the Fever-Tree Championships at London’s Queens Club. Additionally, we’re also long-term supporters of the French Open.
However, what may not be so well known is our love of the arts, even though we’ve been an avid supporter for more than 30 years. In addition to our ongoing support for the Royal Academy of Arts, we recently formed the BNP Paribas AccessArt25 programme. Launched in collaboration with Tate and the Turner Prize in 2018, the programme aims to make art accessible to 17-25-year olds.
