The bank for a changing world.

Every experience in our programme is unique, shaped by different ambitions, questions, and expectations. This is an honest, inside look as our grads share their experiences 6 months in, in their own words.

Learning and growth

“Stepping up to draft presentations was challenging early on, but it showed me how supportive the environment is for learning and how quickly I can grow outside of my comfort zone.” — Grace

“One key thing I’ve learned is how important teamwork is, especially in large teams where strong coordination really makes a difference.” — Yash

Collaboration and mentoring

“One standout lesson from my Women in Global Markets sponsor that really helped me grow was when she asked me to gather updates from each salesperson on the team. It gave me the chance to talk to everyone and make an impression.” — Haishan

“Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and keep asking questions. Every mistake you make (and there will be lots) is a learning moment, and every question can evolve into a conversation that broadens your understanding to a much greater degree than attempting to be perfect on your own.” — Matthew

Belonging and culture

“There is a strong sense of collaboration within the bank, making you feel a part of the whole rather than simply your specific team.” — Harvey

Confidence and mindset

“A habit that has helped me make the most out of the programme is asking different people the same question to gain multiple perspectives. My desk places a strong emphasis on having a solid macroeconomic foundation, which meant there were many concepts that were completely new to me coming from a STEM background. To build my understanding, I would often ask a salesperson, trader, and strategist to explain the same concept to me in their own way. Hearing different viewpoints and explanations helped me piece together a clearer and more practical understanding of the ideas, and it also gave me insight into how different roles think about the same information.” — Janki

“I think in the first few months I was quite keen to show that I could do work to a high standard and subsequently focused a lot of my attention on this. Looking back, I should have spent a bit more focus on learning everything possible and speaking to as many people as possible. I think I could have done these things more than I did and would say that at the start of the programme almost the sole main focus should be on learning.” — Ollie
