You can’t always know what your next career move should be. That’s why our Summer and Long-term internships are a great way to introduce you to the banking world, so you can decide if a career in this industry is right for you. This could be the start of something special.
For those who have a genuine passion to explore investment banking as a career path, we offer Summer Internships across Global Markets (GM), Global Banking (GB), Technology, and Securities Services.
Through outstanding training and dedicated support over a nine-week programme, our Summer Internship provides you with every opportunity to prove yourself, getting you involved on live projects with real responsibility from the start. At the end of the programme, and as a penultimate-year student, you’ll have gained enough knowledge and experience to decide if it’s a world you’d like to explore further. We’ll invite those who perform well to join our renowned graduate programme, so this is your time to shine.

This programme is an excellent opportunity to be immersed in our Global Markets division of the Bank. It begins with a week of professional training to help enhance your technical and professional skills. You’ll then be allocated different desks on rotation, allowing you to work on real projects, be part of the team and gain a comprehensive insight into the role.
You’ll gain an understanding of a variety of areas within Global Markets with work-shadowing placements on other desks across different divisions to give you a good feel of this business area. You’ll attend workshops, including interactive case studies, networking and social events, meet senior managers and colleagues across Corporate & Institutional Banking, and work on individual and team projects. You’ll also have the chance to participate in technical and business skills training plus specific assignments and Summer Internship projects, so no two days will be the same.
We’re seeking proactive, analytical problem-solvers in their penultimate year of study who are keen to learn more about global financial markets and have an interest in current global affairs. Ideally, you’ll have a STEM background, coupled with sharp organisational skills and an ability to adapt to a team environment. We’ll provide the support and training, so you’ll need the ambition and drive to discover a new career.
A note on the assessment: The Summer Internship selection process includes online psychometric tests, a video interview with the business and an in-person assessment centre. As the programme is popular and the competition high, we recommend you are well-prepared for the best chance of getting a place. Head to our FAQ page and learn more about our assessment process.

Our Global Banking Summer Internship programme provides a unique opportunity to spend nine exciting weeks at the Bank. Your first week will consist of comprehensive and interactive training, and the following eight will see you working in one of the two key Global Banking Areas: Capital Markets or Corporate Clients Group.
From day one, you’ll be given responsibility to add real value to live projects for real clients and will be encouraged to expand your professional network across the Bank. You’ll get the opportunity to work in a wide range of markets, including Debt Markets, Advisory, Real Estate Finance, Energy, Resources & Infrastructure and Corporate Coverage.
You’ll need to be on track for a 2:1 degree in any subject, and in your penultimate year of study – but the most important asset is your aptitude for maths coupled with analytical skills that are driven by ambition, curiosity and determination. Having an open mind and an ability to adapt would be a real benefit, along with good communication and interpersonal skills. After a week-long induction where you’ll attend training, workshops and networking events, you’ll join a Global Banking team so you can build your skills and gain exposure to the world of finance.

The opportunity
Join us in London or Glasgow for an immersive hands-on internship programme that runs from June to August. From day one, you’ll receive dedicated onboarding and training, giving you the tools and confidence to hit the ground running and make an impact. We offer exciting roles across departments from Fund Accounting and Middle Office to Loan Solutions and Client Services & Delivery. Whatever your interest, you’ll work alongside industry experts, gain real-world expertise, all while building a network that will launch your professional journey.
The person
You must be in your penultimate year on track for a 2:1 degree, and demonstrate curiosity, drive, and a proactive attitude. If you are determined, thrive on change, think on your feet and communicate with confidence—both in writing and in person—you’ll fit right in. Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to adapt and a genuine desire to learn are essential. You’ll be happy to roll up your sleeves, develop core skills and gain real-world exposure to the fast-moving world of finance.
Our long-term internships are the perfect platform to launch a long-term career with us. Running between 6 and 22 months, and with learning and development opportunities throughout, you’ll gain an in-depth knowledge of the investment banking sector and discover where a career in banking could take you.
These internships are suited to individuals who are curious and determined, displaying a strong collaborative spirit that will help you succeed on the programme and beyond. Having analytical skills and mathematical aptitude is a benefit, but unless you are applying for a Quant role, the degree you have isn’t as important as the ideas and ambition you’ll bring to the team, and your desire to excel on this career path. To apply, you must be a student on a placement year, or within two years of graduation.
Quant LTI’s – as we do not run a Summer Internship programme for Quant Research & Engineering, our long-term interns in this area can serve as a direct pipeline to our Quant Graduate Programme and therefore may be offered the opportunity to attend an assessment centre.
In your week-long induction, we’ll cover technical and professional skills training, workshops, business speaker series, networking and social events, combined to give you a real flavour of life at BNP Paribas.
Throughout your Summer internship you will be assessed for a Graduate role, so will undertake group projects and presentations to help with your personal and professional development. You’ll also have the opportunity to shadow colleagues to give you up-close exposure and an understanding of where your skills and strengths are.
