Spotlight – Sarah Sylla, Global Banking Graduate Analyst

This month’s spotlight is on Sarah Sylla. Sarah studied a Masters of Science in Corporate Financial Management at SKEMA Business School. Sarah started as a Global Banking Summer Intern in 2022 and is now a Global Banking Graduate Analyst in London.

What are three key skills that you use in your day-to-day role?

The three key skills I use in my day-to-day role are the following: Communication, time management and technical skills.

Firstly, effective communication is paramount as I strive to clearly understand the expectations of those I work with, enabling me to assist them efficiently. Secondly, time management and prioritisation are crucial for me to organise tasks effectively and deliver work promptly. Lastly, leveraging the technical skills I have acquired since the beginning of the programme accelerates my progression, enabling me to adapt in various aspects of my role.

What’s your favourite thing about working for BNP Paribas?

My favourite aspect of BNP Paribas is undoubtedly its flat structure and the open-mindedness of individuals across teams. I find that this fosters an environment where one can thrive and continuously learn. Whether approaching colleagues from different departments or within my own team, there’s a genuine willingness to engage and collaborate. This culture of openness not only promotes professional growth but also enriches the overall work experience, making BNP Paribas an exceptional place to be.

How do you stay connected with your Graduate cohort?

I stay connected with my graduate cohort, primarily by arranging or going for occasional lunch or coffee breaks whenever our respective schedules align. Additionally, the HR-organised activities, such as training weeks or socials, provide opportunities for us to come together.
